Maudlin now has the ability to obtain Heat Treated Helical Spring for Stainless Steel 17-7 condition C and reach condition CH 900.  In the CH 900 heat treated condition, this alloy provides excellent mechanical properties at temperatures up to 900 degree F (482 C).  In condition CH 900, the corrosion resistance is comparable to types 302 & 304 stainless steels.

The CH 900 condition requires a three step process:

  1. Vacuum annealed to 1750 degree F and then gas fan quenched.
  2. Sub-Zero step is -100 degree F, then air warmed.
  3. Aged to 900 degree F, then cooled.
